Objectives of the DN MADe Materials – Textile and Eco-responsible Know-how Specialization

At Saint Géraud, the DN MADe Materials program trains creators capable of designing innovative textile projects. Students learn to develop a strong artistic and technical culture, to question and experiment with textile skills, while integrating an eco-responsible and innovation-oriented approach. The program also encourages collaborative work, argumentation, and professional communication of projects.

Textile design sectors

The textile designer is involved in artistic creation and integrates the medium (textile and other materials) into their approach, which requires genuine technical mastery. 

In the fashion industry, The textile designer creates textures, color palettes, patterns, or illustrations that appear on clothing. Their work precedes that of the fashion designer. They also design textile accessories that complement outfits (scarves, ties, socks, etc.). They also work in the lingerie sector. 

In the textile industry (fashion/home), That is to say, at fabric manufacturers, he collaborates with the designer and acts as collection manager, to conceptualize the shaping of trends, define themes, colors, and materials for developing seasonal collections. He thus collaborates with sales representatives, marketing managers, graphic designers, production staff, and technicians. 

In the home space, and in collaboration with fabric editors, he designs items for tableware (table linen and decorative accessories), as well as for home textiles (cushions, throws, catch-all trays, etc.), and also for curtains, sheers, and upholstery fabrics (seating, sofas). His field also encompasses wall coverings, in the design of patterns for wallpaper, decorative panels, as well as floor coverings (rugs, carpets). 

What to do after a DN MADE Materials – Eco-responsible Textile and Know-how Specialization?

After obtaining a DN MADe Materials, students have a BAC +3 level diploma. They have the option to continue their studies or enter the workforce. 

For further studies, students can pursue an apprenticeship at our institution in MASTÈRE Artistic Director of Visual Communication Projects.
