Thursday, February 2nd, 8:00 AM, the bell rings and the Visual Communication - Multimedia option class begins its marathon day!
The class is welcoming today the ES3 Theater Company as part of the French class and the co-teaching class. This day dedicated to Gender Equality is presented in several acts.
It all begins with a «Workshops» morning. The first is dedicated to creating signs from feminist slogans. An opportunity to discover one's artistic flair and civic engagement in a fun way. The second workshop is a theater practice workshop. Students choose to interpret a text of their choice from those selected by the theater company in their own way. Everyone managed to give their best and overcome their shyness.
The time has come for the performance of the play "Femelles". The CVPM class invited the second-year MV students. Everyone enters the specially organized hall, total darkness falls, and the show begins! Director Matthieu Dandreau offers the students a high-quality performance. Through the words of eight women from very different continents and countries, the show questions the inequalities between men and women. Abusing and twisting stereotypes, playing with taboos, and breaking free from conventions, "Femelles" offers a sensitive and artistic definition of feminism. Thanks to a contemporary staging combining music, videos, slogans, drawings, and photos, the actor Sébastien Le Pommier, alone on stage, dons costumes and accessories to move, make smile, and intrigue the students.
The day concludes with very rich discussions between the students and the theater company about gender, the power of words, and social norms related to the body. No grand speeches or moral lessons, just talking about sexism and gender equality without falling into caricature and clichés!
An ordinary day for a high school student, presented differently to better understand reality.
