Language Week 2023

As part of the national «Language Week» event, the high school organized a special week from March 27th to 31st. This year's theme was the Olympic Games and «the important thing is to communicate.».

Monday

We started this week with the installation of the exhibition by first-year CAP Signage and Decor students, who displayed screen prints made during the Erasmus trip to Glasgow (internship for the European classes of first and final year BAC PRO Visual Communication) as well as those from the Fasèm de Mascaraduras exhibition in collaboration with Ostal del Telh (first-year BAC PRO Visual Communication class). A pétanque tournament took place from 1 PM to 6 PM between the second-year BAC PRO Visual Communication students and those of Visual Merchandising! The word pétanque comes from the Occitan «petanca» or «jòc de pès tancats,» which means «feet together.».

Tuesday

For the second day, we had a «conference» day. Alain Poujade, a documentary filmmaker and inveterate globetrotter, came to introduce two countries to our students: in the morning, our high school technology classes (STD2A) were able to discover Brazil; in the afternoon, it was the turn of our vocational high school classes (BAC PRO Visual Communication, Visual Merchandising, CAP Signage, and Art Crafts Diploma) to discover England. These educational reports allowed the young people to get to know these two countries better, in a different way, through images, testimonies, and discussions.

Wednesday

On the third day of Language Week, the second-year BAC PRO Visual Merchandising students spent the entire day creating costumes representing different countries, with the aim of holding a mini-fashion show on Friday. Dancers from the La Manufacture dance school in Aurillac came to present world dances to our young students, sharing traditional dances from various countries.

Thursday

Thursday morning, there was a pastry workshop with the 2nd-year Brevet Métier d’Art students, as well as two students from the Euro Visual Communication section! On the agenda: French, American, and Australian pastries! Our little budding chefs were helped by the cafeteria cooks. We continued with a calligraphy workshop with the first-year CAP Signage and Decor students to work on Olympic and Paralympic values in different languages. The second-year STD2A students created posters and models for the next day's exhibition.

Friday

Friday, we concluded this year's language week with the opening of the calligraphy exhibition, created the day before by the first-year CAP Signage and Decor students in the study hall. We also enjoyed a «TEA TIME» organized by the second-year Euro section students in BAC PRO Visual Communication, featuring pastries made on Thursday morning, to thank all the classes that participated in the activities. We also watched a «telenovela-style» video created by the first-year STD2A students, a fashion show of creations by the BAC PRO Visual Merchandising students, and to finish, a breakdance demonstration! Thank you to all the participants for this week rich in discoveries and creativity.
