Eight students from 1st Year Professional Baccalaureate in Commerce and Sales of Products to Consumers from Lycée Saint Géraud designed and printed their creations for a major cultural event: the concert of Kae Tempest.
Their goal: to create a series of original works around his universe for one of his rare dates in France, on October 22, 2025, in Clermont-Ferrand, as part of a collaboration with La Coopérative de Mai and The Comedy, National Theater of Clermont-Ferrand.
An artistic and professional immersion into graphic design and screen printing
For three weeks, the students were immersed in a Concrete project, combining creation, production, and distribution. From the 12 texts on Kae Tempest's latest album, they have created a collective graphic work: 12 original illustrations, translated, interpreted, and then screen-printed.
These creations were gathered in a box set offered to the artist during their visit to Clermont-Ferrand.
The project concluded with the creation of a souvenir concert poster, also screen-printed live on-site that evening at La Coopérative de Mai. A rare experience, placing students in a real production situation.
A major figure on the international scene, at the crossroads of music, literature, and spoken word, Kae Tempest performs infrequently in France. Their appearance in Clermont-Ferrand was therefore a Rare opportunity.For the students, this project allowed them to work in direct connection with a real cultural event, in conditions close to the professional world.
Guided by their applied arts teachers, as well as the language and English teaching teams, they alternated between classroom work and screen-printing workshops, producing several prints of each illustration.
Learning as close to reality as possible: a memorable experience leading up to meeting the artist
Climax of the project: coming to Clermont-Ferrand for this exceptional concert. After an intense day, the students had the chance to meet Kae Tempest in person.
Their work was praised by the artist's entourage, who even spent Order for a screen-printed poster to accompany the release of a new single.
Concrete and rewarding recognition, which crowns the commitment and quality of the work performed.
Beyond artistic production, this project allowed students to develop:
- South technical skills in graphic design and screen printing
- a capacity to work in team
- an understanding of concrete professional world requirements
But most importantly, he offered them a concrete experience, where creation, rigor, and encountering reality take on full meaning.
