Saint Gerald Aurillac once again marked local cultural life with the first edition of The Aurillac Quick Clap Festival, organized on April 28 at Le Crystal Cinema.
This event brought together students, young filmmakers, and partners around a common ambition: Highlight amateur filmmaking and promote emerging local talent.
The Quick Clap Festival is based on close collaboration between the association SG Editions, the Marmiers Social Center in partnership with Cantal Habitat. This synergy between educational, social, and cultural stakeholders has allowed for the proposal of a structuring event, serving youth and creativity.
A discerning selection in the service of quality
Open to both students of the institution and external participants, the festival has sparked several short film proposals.
To guarantee the quality of programming, a upstream selection was carried out by a jury composed of members of the institution and external professionals or partners.
Each project was evaluated using a precise grid, taking into account:
- the quality of the screenplay
- originality and creativity
- the artistic intention
- the feasibility of the project
- the quality of the workmanship
- the emotional impact and public interest
- the quality of the application file and the production
At the end of this process, Six short films were selected and presented at the evening event, both in competition and out of competition.
Varied universes and true artistic maturity
Fiction, animation, drama, thriller… the films screened revealed a wide diversity of approaches and writing styles.
This wealth has allowed the public to discover unique universes, driven by committed young creators.
The overall quality of the achievements was praised, revealing a real mastery of cinematic codes and an already affirmed artistic maturity.
A concrete experience for students
Seniors in high school STD2A, cinema option, fully participated in this dynamic by presenting their end-of-year film.
Beyond the screening, the evening was marked by discussions with the directors, highlighting: the requirements of the creation process (writing, preparation, shooting) and the importance of teamwork, essential in any film project.

A captivated audience
The public's enthusiasm was reflected in a particularly close vote for the audience award, a testament to the quality of the works presented.
The prize was finally awarded to The night by Inès Bourgoignon, a film that marked viewers with its intensity and narrative strength.
With rigorous organization, demanding selection, and strong student involvement, this first edition of the Quick Clap Festival is a success. Congratulations to all the directors for the quality of their films!
This project confirms Saint Géraud's ability to carry Ambitious, concrete, and rewarding projects the skills of its students as well as their openness to the artistic world.
