As every year, Saint Géraud Aurillac lived to the rhythm of the Language Week, organized from March 23 to 27, 2026. A highlight where words become a true field for exploration, creation, and reflection.
For this 11th edition, the theme «Words to understand the world» invited students to question the richness, limitations, and power of languages.
Throughout the week, numerous artistic and cultural initiatives allowed students to explore linguistic diversity through various projects.
A week of creative and interdisciplinary projects
Throughout the week, pupils and students explored modern languages through various projects, combining linguistic reflection, artistic expression, and cultural openness. Between work on the untranslatable words in English, creation of’acrostics or else Spanish music, each could experiment with different ways of bringing languages to life.
The students of CAP contributed to this week by completing Multilingual badges and magnets, associating words, emotions, and personal identity.
The 10th grade general track students, we crossed paths with languages and cultures by illustrating notions related to Pre-Columbian civilizations. In English, they chose a quote from a famous personality on the importance of languages, before explaining their meaning and their choice when speaking.
On the vocational track, CVPM Pro Seconds have worked around the lexicon of Spanish gastronomy, illustrating words, while the CVPM terminals have carried out Creative videos to stage idiomatic expressions related to animals. A job in sciences on pictograms, to understand how symbols convey a universal message they were also proposed.
The students of STD2A distinguished themselves with productions combining language and visual creation: the Juniors designed a video clip around the song by Iaku in Spanish, while the Seniors imagined acrostics in English, combining meaning and aesthetics.
Finally, the students of DN MADE in turn, explored the links between language and design through a typography workshop and the creation of a Memory game around idiomatic expressions. As an option in Spanish, they enriched this dynamic with graphic and animated projects, in the form of posters and animations.
This diversity of projects illustrates a vibrant and concrete approach to languages, where writing, creating, manipulating, and playing become as many ways to learn and express oneself.
Give everyone a voice
One Participatory wall was installed at the heart of the high school with a simple question: «And you, what language shapes you?. Everyone at the institution was able to write a word that was important to them, in the language of their choice, explain it, or even illustrate it. A space for free expression, revealing linguistic and cultural diversity of the institutionment.
Languages everywhere... even on our plates
Beyond the classrooms, the entire institution mobilized. The cafeteria also joined in by offering Themed menus, allowing students to travel differently: towards North Africa, the’Germany and other horizons, through flavors. A concrete and accessible way to remember that languages are also cultures, traditions, and ways of life.
A week to open up to the world
This Language Week 2026 once again confirms the importance of these highlights in the students' journey. Beyond learning, it promotes:
- cultural openness
- creativity
- the reflection on the meaning of words
- and the link between disciplines
As many essential skills to understand today's world... and tomorrow's. This Living Languages Week 2026 was an opportunity for the students to to express oneself, create, and engage through languages, thus strengthening their openness to the world and their intercultural sensitivity. We thank the language teachers for their commitment and investment, which largely contributed to the richness and success of this week, not to mention student engagement and creativity, at the heart of this beautiful dynamic.
