Extraordinary Delicacies
Educational project conducted with the St. Géraud Communication High School in Aurillac
While the exhibition «Delicacies, the Traditional Costume of Auvergne Women» has ended, the wardrobe has not completely closed!
Students from the Brevet de Techniciens Supérieurs in Fashion, Textile, and Environment Design program, with a specialization in Textiles, Materials, and Surfaces, from the Lycée de la Communication St Géraud (Class of 2016-2017) are taking over the exhibition halls for an encore presentation titled «Extraordinary Delicacies.».
Inspired by the clothing and accessories of yesteryear from the ethnographic collections of the Museum of Art and Archaeology, students created original patterns by experimenting with different creation and realization techniques, transforming the «ordinary» into the «extraordinary.».
Alongside the babarel dresses, bonnets, capes, and other attributes that make up the traditional outfit of an Auvergne woman, their work boards are presented, the result of extensive research materialized by the.
The variety of patterns and construction techniques, the nostalgia emanating from these fabric wraps laden with stories, were all elements of inspiration for these young aspiring designers.
